A Marriage Restored
No matter what condition a marriage is in, God can restore it! He reaches into the darkness and pulls out the light. He goes into the ashes and pulls out beauty. He is the God of the impossible.
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
Luke 1:37
Restoration begins in the house of God at an altar, surrendering your life to Jesus. When you get sick and tired of living in the shambles of a place with addiction, alcoholism, unfaithfulness, violence, or unforgiveness, proper restoration can be found only at the altar of salvation. You may have never stepped foot into a church in your entire life. ‘Surrendering at an altar’ may be words you have never heard before. Words that seem confusing. However, the truth of the message of Jesus will set you free from the confusion of sin and from sin’s captivity.
“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”
Genesis 12:1
1. Answering God’s Call
When we answer God’s call, we will have to leave behind the familiar to follow after Him. We are going from a land of comfort into a land of faith. Faith in a God we cannot see or are unfamiliar with. A God who promises a life of abundance! If we are leaving behind emptiness, confusion, and chaos, this should be a simple task, especially if we are sick and tired of our lives without God’s direction. Faith is a fantastic adventure when we trust in Him. He is God and completely capable of following through with His promises. We must stay steadfast on the path of faith, standing firm on His promises.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33
We may first have to step out in faith and live with humble beginnings until we enter the land of abundance. This is the faith walk! We trust in God every step of the way, and our faith will allow Him to move us into His promises no matter how long it takes.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
Zechariah 4:10
God will take us from faith to faith and glory to glory. But we can never despise small beginnings. God is transforming our story. Our faith must trust Him in the good, and the bad. We leave all the details of our lives to His capable hands. This is a true faith walk! Restoration does not happen overnight; it takes its course.
2. Breaking Generational Curses
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”
Galatians 3:13
When we get the revelation from God of how our marriage and family should look, we are redeemed from divorce, adultery, sickness, etc. We meditate on this scripture and proclaim it over our marriage and children. We learn and apply God’s word to our lives, receiving all His promises over us and our children’s lives. Let God’s word paint a picture of a new future for you and your family. The Bible says faith comes from hearing God’s word (Romans 10:17).
3. Staying Free from Deliverance and Healing
Always remember we are redeemed! Our past can hinder our faith from moving into God’s blessings. This is where the enemy will constantly bring up our history. “Remember what he/she did?” “Remember what she/he didn’t do?”
You must renew your mind by meditating on God’s word and live in a constant state of forgiveness! Be rooted and grounded in love. Loving our neighbors as ourselves also includes our spouse. Forgiveness will keep us free from the past.
“That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ephesians 4:22
When we forgive, we must let things go and believe the best about someone. We trust the Lord to do the work in our hearts and others’. Bitterness is very dangerous. It might feel good at first; it can even make us feel powerful, but it pulls us deeper into bondage.
Past mistakes, anger, and heartache will come up, but we must remember to speak to those things and proclaim they are under the blood of Jesus while putting them behind us. Stay in forgiveness to keep our freedom and avoid the bondage of bitterness.
Forgiveness isn’t always easy, but we don’t walk by emotions. We walk according to the word of God. We want to be obedient to God.
Final Thoughts
God’s promises are for our family, and He wants our children to be saved.
We love our children and believe in the best for them, declaring all of God’s promises over them regardless of their current state.
When we stand on the promises of God, no matter what it looks like, God will always make it good.
Don’t give up! God has a mighty plan for your marriage and children.
