From Abandonment To Being Used By God

From Abandonment To Being Used By God

Many of us have experienced abandonment in many different ways, for some, just the memory alone takes you to the darkest, deepest, most painful moment in your life. When you watched someone walk out of your life or even a parent never being in your life. No matter how or why they left, the pain we carry can bring self-destruction into our life, if we allow it.

1. Trusting God With The Pain of Abandonment

We cannot change our past; however, we can change our future through the redemption power of Jesus Christ!  Put those damaging words “If I only,” “I should have,” and “I could have” behind you.  You are who you are right here, right now, with that pain, hurt, or tragedy.  But you have to decide if are you going to conquer this pain all by yourself or are you going to seek help?  The greatest help you can ever have comes only from the Lord Jesus Christ!

2. Advantage of our Enemy

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night,  has been hurled down. They triumphed over him  by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”

Revelation 12:10-12

No matter how long we have been stuck in our pain of abandonment, we must understand we are not alone.  The enemy always has something he’s going to attack us with in hopes of knocking us down and us never getting up again.  Once we’re down, he will dangle that pain before us and use it to keep us down.

When we attempt to pick ourselves up, the devil is there whispering those tormenting words, reminding us of our pain: “Your dad left you!”  “Your mother left you!” “You have nothing!” “You’re nobody!”  He will remind us about the faults of others and our own faults.  We may even find ourselves asking, “what is wrong with me?”  This is his mode of operation!  Remember, he has a PhD in human nature.  He has been studying us since the garden of Eden.

The enemy will even send more destructive people into our life to reinforce the pain of our abandonment.  An abusive significant other, a step-parent, etc.  He is here to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).  Nothing more and nothing less.  The enemy can’t see our future; however, he can see the angels God sends to protect us in our pain, especially when He has big plans for our future.  Those angels are proof of our tomorrow and he is here to stop our tomorrow before God’s plan manifests in our life.  Just like he tried to stop Moses, Joseph, and Jesus’s future.

3. Yielding to God’s Voice

You may be reading this and these words have resonated with you.  You are thinking “Wow, this sounds just like me.”  It is no accident you are reading this.  Yes, God is reaching out to you letting you know He can take your pain away.  There is hope and love in His Son, Jesus Christ.  That destructive voice that works diligently to keep you down and the voice of God offering hope and love are the dueling forces in all of our lives.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10

4. God the Miracle Worker

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Genesis 50:20

God reaches into the ashes of life and pulls out beauty.  He takes the messiest of messes and creates masterpieces.  There is nothing too far gone, nothing too unfixable.  He is the God of miracles!  Out of all the hurt, pain, and tragedy, He will bring good out of it.  Trust God today and watch what He does with your tomorrow!

Final Thoughts

We must never forget where we come from.  This alone, will keep us humble before God Almighty.

Jesus is at the end of our rope when we find ourselves dangling on the sharp, dangerous cliffs of life–let go and let Him take over your life today.

God’s love wins every time!
