Attitude of Gratitude

God gives grace, ability, opportunity, resource and provision, undeserved and unmerited favor to the humble. When we release an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving constantly, it releases greater goodness in our life. God gives grace to the humble!

1. King David’s Secret to Success

“Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth. And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning and have done ever since the time I appointed a leader over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.”

2 Samuel 7:8-11

King David’s secret to success was spending time before the Lord! If we want to be successful in life, we must spend time before Him. This may not always be easy considering the different balances in life. However, it is a discipline we must commit to and a discipline to be successful in God’s kingdom.

When we go before the Lord, our attitude should shift to sit and dwell in His presence. We are going to fellowship with Him over the bread of heaven, His presence, and His word to receive revelation. We are going to love on Him and He is going to love on us.

Do this as much as is humanly possible. When you rise up in the morning, sit before the Lord. Let there be no condemnation or guilt if you have not mastered this discipline. Life happens, but do your best to keep this a priority in your life. If we have set any goals and priorities in life, let prayer be at the top of our list. Depending on our life schedule, the duration and set time of this discipline may change. But you do your best to commit to this discipline because this is the true secret to success!

2. Humility

“Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said: “Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant—and this decree, Sovereign Lord, is for a mere human!”

2 Samuel 7:18-19

King David was a trillionaire and an emperor, he possessed everything humanly possible available to mankind at that time. Yet, David maintained an attitude of gratitude as shown in the scripture above: “Who am I, Sovereign Lord”. He didn’t learn this when he was in the palace. He learned this humility on his way up to the palace! When we learn this lesson at our bottom God will make sure to build humility into our spiritual DNA.

Maintaining an attitude of gratitude like King David secured his journey to success and the fullness of God’s blessing.

3. The Mountain Of Success

When we humble ourselves before the Lord, He will raise us up. He will move us into destiny to help and change lives. The Lord will make our lives matter and use us to put a mark on a generation that can never be erased. When God manifests His goodness in our lives, no man can stop it.

As we move into this Thanksgiving season, let us move into an attitude of gratitude. Let us stay humble before our Lord and count our blessings. Let’s be grateful for all that the Lord has done in our life. If it had not been for the LORD that was on our side, where would we be?

Final Thoughts

An attitude of gratitude releases grace.

Sitting before the Lord (prayer) can begin elementary and develop into a vital discipline.

God resists the proud and He gives grace to the humble.

We humble ourself before the Lord, and the Lord will raise us up.
