Can I Ever Live Free From Guilt?
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
John 8:36
1. The Precious Blood of Jesus
There is power in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. His blood frees us from guilt. If we struggle with shame, it is broken off of us. If there’s guilt or condemnation from past sins and mistakes, we must get that off our lives today. We cannot move forward looking back. It’s impossible! We must ask ourselves why we feel guilt and shame to move into prosperity.
Jesus Christ’s blood is enough to take condemnation so we can live in freedom that He died to give every one of us! This is the game-changer! The Bible even says the youth shall faint and fall, but those waiting for the Lord shall renew their strength, mount up with wings like eagles, and run without getting weary. However, this only happens in the presence of the Lord.
If we suffer depression or sadness, we must know that the Lord’s presence provides complete joy and pleasure. We must remove condemnation and return to where God designed us to be, which is in the Garden of Eden (in His mighty presence).
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29
In this verse, John begins to reveal to us who Jesus is. He’s the lamb of God, and He will take away the world’s sins. That is a load right there! We must understand Old Testament priesthood theology and the Old Covenant to value what John says in the scripture.
2. Power Of Sin
“But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Genesis 3:9-10
This has to be one of the saddest moments in the Bible. This is where guilt, shame, and condemnation manifest. We see a man running from his father, God, caused by the terrible power of sin. We will focus on removing sin to have fellowship with His presence.
A strategy from heaven must be applied to experience the fullness of joy. Not only can we share this heavenly presence on Earth, but it’s where we will live for eternity. That is God’s will for our life.
John said He is the lamb of God. We have to catch what is being revealed to us because, without it, the wages of sin result in death.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23
In the Old Testament, God wanted to be with His people. However, because Adam and Eve sinned, somebody had to pay the price for mankind’s sin. For many years, God allowed animal sacrifices to pay the price for man’s sin.
This was never God’s best because the blood of an animal could never remove a guilty conscience. However, it appeased the judgment of heaven and the wages of sin so that the ruling would not come upon the people, and they could live on a mediocre level of God’s blessing.
Let us thank God that Jesus is the blood of the lamb! He takes away all sin, never to be brought up again, rather than a conditional covering. When Jesus shed His blood on the cross, He paid the price for our sins.
“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
Hebrews 9:22
Because of Jesus’s blood, forgiveness is available to us all.
3. Identifying Sin
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
If we will be forgiven, we first have to identify sin. The devil has manipulated our culture nowadays because we don’t recognize sin as sin anymore. Confessing our sin doesn’t necessarily mean revealing it to someone (e.g., Catholic confession booth). However, there are occasions when it is necessary. Be sure to proceed with a trusted, faith-filled individual who will not spread gossip.
Identifying sin should not be a problem. Sin is obvious. Confession means to renounce sin and no longer take part in it. We can’t keep secret sins from God because He sees everything. Remember Adam hiding from God because he was ashamed of his sin.. thinking he could run away. But God is faithful to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us from its ill effects. He will forgive us and close all demonic activity the sin opened. God is a great deliverer! You have been washed clean from the past, and the new has come.
4. Unforgiveness
If we are going to walk in freedom, we have to deal with unforgiveness. Unforgiveness will bring torment into our lives, so we must shut that door and forgive. God will help us with unforgiveness. However, that tormenting spirit has access to us because it was released from past sin without repentance. Embrace forgiveness and shut the door on sin today!
“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”
Hebrews 9:14
Final Thoughts
We start living guilt-free because we are new creations in Jesus Christ!
We are washed in the blood of Jesus, and His blood sets us free from all sin.
In the spirit realm, the blood of Jesus speaks to the voices of our past sins and silences those voices.
When we learn to conquer guilt, we can confidently come to God.
