How To Choose Joy Daily
Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:15-19
Our God shall supply all of our needs has got to be the greatest promise in the Bible. Let us not underestimate the power of this promise. Everything we need–spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, relational–is locked in this scripture. We have to also know how to receive this promise because God is supplying all the time.

1. Focus on God’s Abundant Provision
Heaven is a place of abundance—streets of gold, gates of pearl, and precious stones (Revelation 21:18-21). There is no lack or need. This reminds us that God’s provision isn’t limited by earthly constraints. When we choose joy, we trust that God supplies all our needs. Shifting our focus from lack to His abundance allows joy to flourish.
2. Become a Giver and Receiver
Joy comes through giving and receiving. We give to God—our obedience, worship, and faith and He receives, then, in return, He blesses us and we receive. Though we don’t earn His blessings, there is a Biblical law of seedtime and harvest. Choosing joy means giving thanks, sowing generously, and receiving God’s goodness with an open heart. The result of all of His blessings is that God gets all the glory.
3. Align Your Heart with God’s Purpose
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2
We all have a race to run and a purpose to fulfill. We fight the good fight of faith and remain faithful until we finish our race because there is a prize that awaits us in Heaven.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
1 Corinthians 5:10
Our goal, our heart motive should be to please God. Because we will all stand before Him to be judged by our deeds on what we did here on earth, and our reward will be dependent upon those deeds. God knows our rewards, but we must race with this heart motive of pleasing Him on our faith journey toward our promised land. One day, we will stand before Him and we will be judged according to our deeds on what we did here on earth with the call of God on our lives. Our reward will be dependent upon what we did and our faithfulness will matter. When we choose joy, we live in a way that honors God and moves us toward His promises.
4. Stay Faithful and Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
Of course, we are pressing on to reach the end of our individual race. But we are not alone, because we are in the body of Christ. As members of the body of Christ, we each have a unique purpose but a shared goal—glorifying God. Together we are obeying God, and we will win our prize. Choosing joy means staying focused on Jesus and believing He is leading us to victory.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Choosing joy is a daily decision. It means looking beyond trials, trusting God’s provision, and embracing a life of giving and receiving.
When we align our hearts with His purpose and stay faithful, joy becomes more than an emotion—it becomes our way of life.
