Clear Directions From Headquarters
“But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”
Matthew 14:27-29
Peter is receiving direction from Jesus in this scripture and his questions are clearly answered. When we receive clear direction from God like this, a Word from God, this is rhema Word.
1. Everything Begins with God’s Word
Whatever land we are called to possess begins with a rhema word from God. In the scripture, Peter would walk on water because he had clear direction from Jesus. Those instructions demanded confidence! Rhema word comes with authority to combat all those obstacles attempting to hold us back from our objective.
Many people fail right here because they do not get a rhema word from God (clear direction). Based on Peter’s rhema word, he steps out of the boat and walks on water. The truth is we can’t walk on water. It’s impossible. So many times, God will lead us to do something natural we may not be capable of.
When faced with the impossible, intimidation is constantly attacked with lies. This is why it is vital to have a Rhema word with confirmation. We can step out in faith, but it may just be presumption. We can often confuse hope with faith. Hope is like a blueprint that projects God’s plan. Faith is an action, a word given by God. Peter received clear direction from Jesus that he was to come to Him, which meant walking on water.
2. Confirmed Rhema Word
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
When a word is from God, it will keep coming back repeatedly. We will start seeing/hearing that word everywhere we go. Confirmation has to be sought after. We have to look for it. We have our Rhema, and now we need our guarantee. If it is an accurate rhema word, confirmation will follow. God will make sure He is clear with His direction!
Big faith decisions like purchasing properties or starting a business must have a firm confirmation and clear direction from God. Some people pick up and move out, and God never spoke to them. They end up being on their own. This is why we have to get our rhema word confirmed. Also, try to find at least one or more trustworthy, spiritually sound people who have been proven to walk by faith. Of course, their life doesn’t have to be perfect, but they should at least have a good faith track record, and preferably they are a church leader or elder. You take your rhema word of direction from God and present it to them. If it’s from God, most likely, they will agree with you. If they disagree, you must go back to God in prayer and ensure it is an accurate rhema word, or perhaps the timing is off.
When we receive an accurate rhema word from God, it will catapult us to new levels. This is what happened to Peter. One rhema word from the Lord, and he did the impossible! When we receive a Rhema word, we get confirmation and start building a case of faith. Why is this so important? When the temptations come, like when Peter lost his focus on Jesus and started focusing on the storm around him, fear took over, and he started sinking. Thank God for His mercy!
3. Conquering Fear of Success
Fear of success is best described as fear of failure. Those voices inspire doubts about performance, failure, etc. Remember, faith is the opposite of fear. This is when we go to the word of God and find our promise that we are not a failure and can do all things in Christ who strengthens us. We have to remind ourselves we are a son/daughter of God, and our identity is in Him, not in our accomplishments and our successes, even our failures. Because the truth is, we are human, and we will sometimes fail. Sometimes, failure is part of the journey to success!
The more we know who we are in Christ, the more the fear of success will leave our lives. Once fear leaves then obedience will take over, and God can call us to walk on water! When we have God on our side, who can be against us? When we receive our rhema word to possess our land, it is land God is giving us, so reach out and keep it. Faith says He has already given the land to us, and we’re already a father of many nations. If God says we are healed, then we are healed. Speak it and agree with God. Come in accord with His rhema word.
4. Fear in Your Mind; Faith in Your Heart
Beware of the thief called worry, fear, and discouragement.
“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:6-9
This is a command! We should say this verse aloud continuously on our journey to our promised land, our inheritance! We take our confirmed rhema word as we possess our land!
Final Thoughts
The enemy is afraid when we take land because when we own the land God owns it!
God has jurisdiction over our land and because of our obedience He can maneuver easily.
Rhema word comes with authority to combat all those obstacles attempting to hold us back from our land.
When we have trusted faith people in agreement with our rhema word, our faith becomes more powerful!
