A Mindset of Dependency on God

A Mindset of Dependency on God

This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.

1 John 4:9

At the altar of Salvation we were redirected from our worldly path unto the faith path where we first fell in love with Jesus.  The Bible says while we were yet sinners, doing our own thing, God still loved us and had a plan for our life.   Keeping these truths in front of us continuously throughout our faith walk, along with an attitude of gratitude, never losing sight of where God found us, and never forgetting His goodness, will help strengthen our love for God!

1. Falling In Love With Jesus

We may have come from very dark pasts, some of us even deep and dark places that hardened our hearts against God.  No matter what our past was, when we found salvation, we found a new life.  The Bible says he that has been forgiven much will love God much.  We are all miracles, God’s handiwork, as His goodness and mercy transforms our hearts daily.  It is a love relationship with Jesus!

2. Staying In Love With Jesus

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Matthew 22:37

Learning to depend on God is part of loving Him with all your heart, soul, and mind. When our trust is in Him, our love for Jesus grows deeper. Let love be the foundation of your faith journey—it’s the key to staying close to Him and in love with Him every step of the way.

3. Returning to Your First Love

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write… Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.”

Revelation 2:1-5

The church of Ephesus was faithful in works, enduring trials and standing for truth—yet God still called them to return to their first love. It’s possible to be busy for God and still drift in our intimacy with Him. When we first came to Jesus, we prayed often, hungered for His Word, and lived with deep dependency on Him. But over time, our closeness can weaken as routine replaces relationship. The good news? We can return. Repentance is simply a change of heart and mindset that leads us back to full devotion. Fan the flame again—go back to what stirred your heart for Him in the beginning, and watch your love for Jesus come alive again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Bible says while we were yet sinners, doing our own thing, God still loved us and had a plan for our life.

Developing a mindset of dependency on God is when we learn to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Love should be our foundation as we journey through our faith walk. This is the key to staying in love with Jesus!
