How To Be Fully Devoted To God

How To Be Fully Devoted To God

Solomon loved the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David, except that Solomon, too, offered sacrifices and burned incense at the local places of worship. The most important of these places of worship was at Gibeon, so the king went there and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings.  That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

1 Kings 3:3-5

Solomon loved God deeply. He didn’t limit his worship to one location or one moment—he worshiped God everywhere. His love and devotion moved God’s heart so much that God visited him in a dream and offered him anything he desired.

When we are fully devoted to God, our love goes beyond words or songs. We worship Him with every part of our lives—our time, our talents, our resources, and our hearts. True devotion is a lifestyle of worship that puts God first in everything.

1. Wisdom and Understanding

“Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted!  Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

1 Kings 3:7-9

Solomon’s humility opened the door to his greatness. He didn’t ask for riches, fame, or power—he asked for wisdom and understanding. That one prayer set his entire life apart.

When we seek God’s wisdom above everything else, He gives us insight and understanding that set us apart too. Wisdom helps us lead, decide, and love like Jesus. It shapes our character and gives us favor with others. And when others see that kind of wisdom in us, it brings glory to God.

2. The Mind of God

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs :5-6

When we tap into the mind of God, we never run out of answers. Even if we lack resources, we’ll never lack wisdom. God’s thoughts are higher than ours, and His perspective always leads to victory.

Whatever we face—whether it’s a financial challenge, a relationship problem, or a decision about the future—God’s wisdom has the solution. Every breakthrough in our life will come from applying His wisdom to our situation. His understanding brings direction, peace, and divine success.

3. The Power of Staying Close

Solomon’s success didn’t just come from wisdom—it came from closeness. His proximity to God positioned him for divine favor. God doesn’t just want to share His wisdom with us; He wants a relationship with us.

When we draw near to Him, our hearts begin to mirror His. The closer we are to God, the more we think, act, and respond like Him. Our character grows, our vision expands, and we begin to walk in the promises He prepared for us.

4. Making Time for God

If Solomon’s strength came from intimacy with God, then our strength does too. In a busy world full of distractions, time with God must be intentional. It’s easy to fill our schedule with everything except what matters most—but making time to be still in God’s presence is where real transformation happens.

When we prioritize God daily—through prayer, worship, and His Word—our hearts become more aligned with His. It’s in those quiet moments that He refreshes us, gives us clarity, and fills us with His peace. Time with God is never wasted; it’s what keeps us fully devoted and spiritually strong.
