The Secret to Doing Big Things for God
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”
Ephesians 3:20
On our journey to exceeding all usual limits and living in the overflow, our motives should be pure on this journey. Our motive should always be that God gets the glory, not us.
1. To God be The Glory!
“In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Revelation 5:12
We as believers are in Him; therefore, we receive His power, wealth, wisdom, strength, and glory. Receiving God’s glory is when He gives us dignity and makes our name great for His namesake. We are blessed so we can be a blessing to others.
Lucifer (later became Satan) was receiving the praises and the glory from the angels and transferring that to God in the throne room. This is what God created him to do. But instead of transferring that glory to God, he started taking it for himself. This is when all the trouble and his fall began.
When we continue this spiritual attitude, God will always give us His glory back. It is a cycle of obedience and honor that brings the flow of His blessings. We will live in the overflow as we give Him the glory.
2. The Crushing
On our journey, there is always a price to pay for any type of success, even in God’s kingdom. We are all given gifts from God, many types of gifts, along with an anointing that has been placed on our life. Whatever our gift is, we have to study, practice, learn, and do whatever it takes to work toward success in our gift and our calling. But at the end of the day, it all belongs to God and we are His stewards. A steward is someone who is entrusted with responsibility for something that does not belong to them. We never want to make the mistake Satan made.
3. Pure Heart and Motive
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for He founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face, God of Jacob.”
Psalm 24
When we understand we are stewards for God–who is the owner of everything we can see and everything we cannot see–then our hearts and our motives become pure in our giving. This is when we are qualified to enter into the overflow. When we are abundantly blessed, we can abundantly bless others. However and whatever God guides us to give, we give because it belongs to Him and not us.
4. Conquering Limitations
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
Pharaoh was a brilliant leader. He trained his taskmasters to limit the children of Israel which brought them into slavery for his purpose and gain.
After several generations, the taskmasters were no longer needed because the children of Israel’s mentality had been engrained and carried into the next generation. All of God’s promises had been erased from their lives through the taskmasters of Pharaoh. They were supposed to go to the promised land and that promise faded into the pain and suffering of their enslaved lives.
If we want to do big things for God, we must conquer the voices of the taskmasters in our life that are telling us we can’t do it or become who God called us to be. These are lies from the enemy that we must break free from. Remember this: free people, free people; and enslaved people, enslave people.
Final Thoughts
When we understand we are stewards for God–who is the owner of everything we can see and everything we cannot see–then our hearts and our motives become pure in our giving and this attitude will carry us into the overflow!
When we trust in God completely, there are no limitations. Let us conquer and possess our promised land today, and do big things for God.
