How to Grow Your Faith for Godly Excellence
We all come from different life situations to the redeeming cross of Jesus Christ. However, what we all have in common is the emptiness the world could not fill and an emptiness only God can fill. He first fills that emptiness with meaning and purpose then begins to reveal His perfect plan for our life one day at a time. His ultimate goal is to develop us into a place of godly excellence where He will bring us into our promised land!

1. Strengthen Your Faith Through Moral Excellence
“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”
Proverbs 16:32
God wants to raise His children up to live a holy lifestyle. This will be our strongest challenge–learning to rule our spirit. However, this will be more important than taking an entire city. What a powerful statement this scripture reveals. Moral excellency is vitally important when focusing on our promised land. It is the key to victory in the Kingdom of God.
2. Build Faith by Trusting God’s Word Over Circumstances
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
For instance, if we have received a health diagnosis of sickness we go to the Word of God where we find our evidence as we begin to build our case for healing. We speak that word every day over our situation. We take in the Word of God like we would take medicine for our body. This is how we overcome the world with our faith. Everything from God comes by faith including our freedom and conquering our flesh.
3. Train Your Mind to Win the Spiritual Battle
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 28:6-11
There is a real and consistent war against our flesh and the Word of God. Although we have salvation and we love Jesus, there is a renewing of our mind that we are responsible for. This is active when we begin to discipline our flesh and our spirit according to God’s Word. Our degree of sin in our life will determine the degree of our consecration to God’s Word. If we were deep in sin when we came to Jesus, then we need to get deeper in the Word of God, saturate our life with His truths, and allow those truths to transform our mind and our way of living.
4. Pursue God with Passion and Purpose
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Genesis 5:22-23
Our pursuit for sin in the world is the way we need to pursue Godly excellence. We go after God with a holy desire and passion to live according to the fruits of the Spirit of God defined in the scripture above. This is how we develop faith for Godly excellence. This is how we get to our promised land!
