How To Build a Strong, God-Centered Family

How To Build a Strong, God-Centered Family

We all want to get along better through healthy communication, and we all want peace in our home.  These are needs and strong wishes people are searching for in this every-changing world we live in.  God has a plan for every area of our lives!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

1. Faith Foundation

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Building a faith foundation begins at home. We set the tone not only for our children—no matter their age—but also for future generations. What we live will shape what they believe. Children may not always follow what we say, but they will imitate what we do. They watch our choices, values, and daily walk, and from that, their own belief systems are formed. When a home is centered on God’s Word, His peace fills the atmosphere. And when our children one day step into their own homes, it is that same peace they will desire to cultivate.

2. Everlasting Covenant

I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.  And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

Genesis 17:6-7

God is the God of generations. His covenant is not just for us—it is for our children, and their children after them. He has promised fruitfulness, blessing, and a lasting relationship with Him for all who follow His ways. We are called to declare this covenant over our descendants, speaking life, blessing, and direction into their future. As we do, we align our family with God’s Word and ensure His promises are carried forward.

3. Memorial Testimonial

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Revelations 12:1

Powerful, powerful scripture of how our testimony is as potent as the blood of the Lamb.  We are to speak our testimony into the current and future generations of the goodness of God over our life.  Our testimony keeps remembrance alive and when we testify we are also passing forward the power and influence of what God did for us–look what the Lord has done.  The Bible, in fact, is a type of memorial testimonial to the world of God Almighty.

4. Standing in Faith

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Joshua 1:8

Standing in faith is the most important component to building a strong, God-Centered family.  The Word of God is our main source–our sustenance–as we build a life of prayer.  We establish a firm relationship with God and the Holy Spirit, our Counselor, our Guide, our clear direction to our promised land. Yes, life is life and challenges will come, but as believers, we don’t go through storms like other people.  If we choose to stand in faith and believe God’s Word, we will eventually see change take place in our life.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Raising children in a home environment that is based on the Word of God will set the atmosphere of His peace in that home.  When they go out on their own it is His peace they will yearn for when they begin to build their own family.

We are to speak God’s covenant words over our descendant’s lives.  Our voice should navigate them toward His ways making sure their life lines up with His Word.

Our testimony keeps remembrance alive and when we testify we are also passing forward the power and influence of what God did for us–look what the Lord has done.
