How To Live Free From Worry
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:62
I believe 2026 is a year of expansion, moving forward from glory to glory. Living free from worry begins with focus. When we put our hand to the plow, God calls us to look ahead with faith and confidence in His promises. Worry loses its grip when our vision is fixed on where God is leading us, not on what lies behind us.
1. Release Offense and Unforgiveness
Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
Matthew 18:21-22
Offense and unforgiveness create burdens that weigh down the heart and distract the mind. Forgiveness is not optional for the believer, it is foundational to freedom. When we forgive, we release ourselves from carrying what God never intended us to hold. Choosing forgiveness clears the way for peace, restores our focus, sets us free, and allows us to move forward unhindered.
2. Fix Your Focus on What God Is Doing Now
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19
God is saying here we are not to dwell on the past, so let’s live aware of what He is doing now. Freedom from worry comes when we stop revisiting what has already been forgiven and instead recognize the new work God is bringing forth. As we align our thoughts with His promises, new patterns of faith and discipline take root, leading us forward with clarity and confidence.
3. Refuse Worry, Anxiety, and Fear
“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
Matthew 6:34 (MSG)
Worry competes for our attention, but faith in the Word of God shuts it out. God invites us to trust Him with today and rest in His ability to handle tomorrow. While we remain responsible and diligent, we do not allow anxious thoughts to dominate our hearts. Confidence in God’s faithfulness and Word keeps us steady and at peace as we walk forward.
4. Stand on God’s Word Daily
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Matthew 6:25-27
We need to quickly identify the potential traps of worry and stand on the word of God. Standing on God’s word and trusting in Him is how we will live free from worry and move forward into our promised land. Living free from worry requires standing firmly on God’s Word. His promises remind us of our value, His care, and His provision. When worry attempts to rise, we respond with what the Word says. Trusting God daily keeps us in peace, focused, and moving forward into everything He has prepared for us.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Living free from worry begins with putting our hand to the plow and fixing our eyes forward in faith.
As we forgive, focus on what God is doing now, and stand on His Word, worry loses its hold.
Trusting God daily positions us to walk confidently into our promised land and live in the freedom Jesus has already provided.
