From Nothing To God’s Blessing
When we surrender before God, we may be leaving some lifestyles behind. There are two lifestyles that are most common, known as emptiness and rebellion. We have all roamed aimlessly in a world filled with good and evil, trying to fill a void only God could satisfy.
1. God’s Multiplication
“Here is a boy with five barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
John 6:9
This scripture is a perfect depiction of what God can do with anything. If we surrender our all to His plan, agenda, and purpose, He will eventually turn anything we have into His blessing of abundance. Even when we keep giving God what we have, large or small, we will walk in His blessing.
“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:32-33
Let this be a scripture we live by and a scripture that defines our lives. God has taken our brokenness and put us back together, healed us from our emptiness and every foul lie of the enemy! His truth puts us back together with unconditional grace and mercy. All we need to do is trust Him, put Him first, and seek His Kingdom and righteousness.
2. Putting God First
Nowadays, the world is all about putting ourselves first, not God. But, we must live according to the Word of God because we are not of this world! Our role models should be men and women of God with integrity, a vision from God, and a life defined by Matthew 6:33. Their life and vision from God should guide us into God’s blessing and abundance. God is no respecter of persons. He will bless all of His children who put Him first.
How can the world even compare to God’s goodness? The world is striving to be satisfied, successful, and striving for contentment. They are striving to find their identity. But if we humble ourselves to God’s plans first, we will be amazed at how the striving ceases, and in comes the blessing of God.
3. The Temptation of Striving
We must be careful with the temptation of striving. That temptation usually speaks when we question God’s timing in our lives or get frustrated while waiting on Him. This is a dangerous attitude we must steer away from. During those times, we must meditate on Matthew 6:33 and trust in His timing.
Even if we start off with little to nothing, we should still be grateful for God’s peace. This is not the peace of the world, but the peace of God. We find His peace in His word and His promises for our lives. We have God’s peace because we have made peace with God through our salvation and through the blood of Jesus.
His promise, as we seek His kingdom first, is the provision in every area of our lives. Not just financial provision but emotional, physical, and spiritual provision. These are all kingdom benefits of seeking and running after the things of God: wisdom, opportunities, favor, and God’s ideas. These things added to our lives come from a surrendered life to Jesus Christ.
4. Voices Of Influence
Who are you allowing to speak into your life? Are these voices putting God first? These are important questions in life, especially living a life for God. Our priority should be surrounding our lives with people who will teach us the word of God. In return, we must allow their lifestyle to challenge us and to trust God on a greater level. If their lifestyle makes us not want to trust in God, then we need to surround ourselves with people who will. Look at who your five closest friends are, and you’ll see where you’re going.
Final Thoughts
We may come to the altar with absolutely nothing, but when we put God first and trust in Him one day at a time, we will experience His goodness.
The world’s view of life is temporary when compared to God’s goodness.
God is never early! God is never late! God is always on time!
