How To Overcome Insecurity and Fear
What we honor is what we walk toward. So, we are going to come out of agreement with insecurity and fear and in agreement with our destiny! Our biggest challenge in our faith walk is navigating through those two voices speaking into our lives: the voice of God, which is the voice of our destiny, and the voice of insecurity and fear, which comes from the enemy who wants to derail us from our God-ordained destiny.
1. We Honor God’s Plan
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
We can get stuck in the first part of this scripture with all the warfare of the enemy assaulting our life, as we walk toward our destiny. This is an absolute challenge as a believer when we honor the lies of the enemy, or even facts, rather than the truth of God’s Word. Jesus came to this world to give us life, and have it to the full. This is God’s truth we must honor!
However, the enemy will try to send fear, depression, anxiety into our life through many avenues. They will always be direct contradictions to the destiny He has preordained for us. More than likely it will be through a traumatic experience of some kind. But we must remember what the enemy intends for evil, God will always bring good out of it. We must trust in God only and manage our faith as we move forward. And most importantly, we must not park in the pain of our traumas. This is where the enemy can take us hostage-this is his plan for our life.
2. From Prison to Praise
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
For those who find yourself taken hostage from the pain of your trauma–whatever that trauma may be–there is an escape! We praise God in all situations and in all things we give Him thanks. Yes, even in the pain of our trauma. God has given us the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, heaviness from the pain of our trauma. We begin this process one praise, one day at a time, and allow that heaviness to vacate our lives as we restart, reset, refocus, readjust, and keep our focus on God’s Word daily. Now, we can continue down the path to our destiny, the destiny He has preordained over our life. Praise will also help us come out of agreement with our feelings and move us forward into agreement with God’s plan for our life. Praise is also a weapon when fighting the lies of the enemy so we use it unsparingly and with determination to thwart the enemy’s plans and move toward God’s plans.
3. Moving Into Destiny
What we honor is what we will walk in. Ultimately, God will use the circumstances of our past traumas for His glory. We surrender to Him every step of the way, facing our fears and insecurities, then overcoming them, before we can step into our destiny. This can be a journey of contradictions contrary to what God is showing us He is going to do with our life. We may have public speaking fears and yet God is calling us to the stage or to the pulpit. Insecurity and fear of contradiction has to be dealt with. We have to come out of agreement with insecurity and fear and come into agreement with our destiny–the plans God has for our life no matter what.
