How To See Myself Better
You are the righteousness of God and you are a child of God. Yes, we have earthly parents; however, we are born of God and have every right that Jesus has. The cross forces God to see us just as He sees His son Jesus.
1. New Creation in Christ Jesus
“And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. So, from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:15-17
It does not matter what label the world places on us. Once we surrender our life to Jesus Christ, those names are washed away in His blood that was shed on the cross. We are children of Almighty God and that is who we are through our salvation. Now, confess this out loud “I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD!”
2. Righteousness of God
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.”
Philippians 3:8-9
The word righteousness in the Greek translation means being in right standing with God. So when God sees us, we are as right with Him, in His eyes, as Jesus is right now, and as Adam was before he fell. Jesus paid the price so we can be in right standing with God.
Paul is saying in this scripture, he is no longer having his own righteousness, but that which is faith in Jesus Christ. So, it is by our faith we are righteous in God’s eyes. It does not matter if we don’t look, feel, talk, or behave righteous. By faith we are the righteousness of Almighty God; based on what God has already said about us.
3. Righteousness Mentality
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2
Meditating on this biblical fact of our right standing with God develops a righteousness mentality. This is just not merely positive thinking. The Christian scientist and positive thinker of the world has tapped into a level of this and has found some success; However, the problem is when you get them alone, their soul is still empty. The reason is, changing our mind will not bring true transformation because we have to first change our heart and the only person who can change our heart is God! When God changes our heart, eventually our mind will catch up to who we really are.
Our biggest problem is not the enemy. He was already disarmed, dethroned, defeated, and stripped of his power at that cross. Our problem is, the devil has worked on our mind for generations filling our mind with all kinds of worldly mentalities from our lineage, to the loud deceitful voices of the world, media, and a cesspool of ideologies all opposite of God’s word.
4. Who Am I?
In the book of Exodus, we read of Pharaoh who was to hand-pick taskmasters and develop them in the art of abuse, pain, manipulation, and control. These taskmasters were released on the people of God/Israel to curse and cripple them and tell them who they wanted them to be. The Israelite slaves outnumbered the Egyptians; however, because their minds were enslaved by these taskmasters, their lives were under their control. The first hundred years were spent bringing the Israelites under their control. After a while the slave’s mentality was grounded and they had become everything their taskmasters wanted them to become. These Israelites were covenant people and because of years of slavery under these Egyptian taskmasters, they lost sight of who they were and all the promises God gave them.
The question we must address is a very important question: Who am I? We must answer this question with God’s word! We must take His word and allow it to wash away all the lies of the enemy–our taskmaster of this world–trying to tell us who we are. You are not a product of your circumstances. You are not what you have been through. Anything that is not rooted in who God says we are, we are in danger of losing. So, we must only find our identity in the Word of God.
Once again, declare this out loud, “I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD!”
Final Thoughts
We believe, receive, and speak by faith, “I am a child of God!“
