How To Hunger For The Glory of God
Hunger for God does not happen accidentally. It is cultivated through desire, obedience, and sensitivity to His Spirit. The glory of God is released where there is hunger for His presence and submission to His leading. When we learn how to hunger for Him, we position our lives to experience His glory in increasing measure.
1. Develop a Desire to Know God Personally
Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
Daniel 11:32
Hunger for the glory of God begins with a desire to truly know Him. Knowing God is more than information; it is relationship. As we pursue Him through prayer, worship, and His Word, our hunger grows. The more we know Him, the more strength we receive, and the more His glory is revealed through our lives.
2. Learn to Recognize the Voice of His Spirit
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
1 Kings 19:11-12
Hunger deepens when we become attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. God often speaks in quiet ways that require focus and surrender. As we slow down, listen, and respond to that still small voice He speaks in our hearts, our sensitivity to His presence increases. Obedience to His voice is what draws us into deeper encounters in His presence.
3. Respond to God With Obedience in Small Steps
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Luke 16:10
Hunger is strengthened through obedience, especially in small things. When we obey God consistently, even in simple acts of faith, our appetite for His presence grows. God releases greater measures of His glory to those who are faithful with what He places in their hands. Small steps of obedience prepare us for greater responsibility and deeper encounters with Him.
