Importance of Staying Grateful

Importance of Staying Grateful

It’s important to stay in a place of gratefulness, celebrate everything the Lord has done for us, and never forget where and what He has brought us out from.

1. Multiplication of God’s Blessing

11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

Deuteronomy 8:11-18

All that we have will be multiplied in the area of our peace, health, marriage, children, ministry, finances, leadership, influence, and all that is good.  This is the promise of God.  Where we are today will not be where we are tomorrow.  No matter what season you may be facing today, continue to stand on God’s promises.

2. The Promised Land Test

Once our heart is positioned properly, we have surrendered our all to God, and we enter our promised land, then we will begin the process of embracing the prosperity God has promised us.  This is when the real test begins: where we must maintain our focus on the kingdom of God and His house.

3. The Temptation of Adam and Eve

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

Deuteronomy 8:18

Adam and Eve were in the garden surrounded by God’s blessings, everything their heart desired, and walking beside God every day.  With all of this they were still faced with the temptation of disobedience to God.  This is what also happens in our promised land.  The enemy will meet us right there in our promised land with the same temptation to disobey God.  However, as God blesses, increases, and multiplies, we must always spend time in His presence.

4. The Secret Place

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2

It is important that we don’t get too busy because we can put ourselves at risk and forget who and where our prosperity came from–God Almighty! When we spend time with God, it’s important to take time to remember what He has done for us and where He brought us out of. This is where we keep our hearts grateful and where we build our faith daily on gratefulness.

Final Thoughts

It’s important to stay in a place of gratefulness, celebrate everything the Lord has done for us, and never forget where and what He has brought us out from.

We must always spend time in the presence of God.  This is vital and the most important important part of our spiritual journey.

We serve the Lord with gladness of heart for the abundance of the things He has given us.
