How to Have Joy and Jubilee

How to Have Joy and Jubilee

The year is quickly coming to a close, and although we proclaimed it as a year of joy and jubilee, it came with its battles.  Why?  Because our joy is a direct attack against our enemy, especially when that joy is wielded against him as a weapon, regardless of what storm we are going through, no matter how many fiery arrows he throws our way.  Like our faith, he wants to steal our joy!

1. Our Joy is a Weapon

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

Not only are these fruits attributes of God, they are also powerful fruits we produce when we allow our spirit to override our flesh, which ultimately becomes a weapon against our enemy.  We are born-again, Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and He made us a new creation.  His spirit is living on the inside of us, and one of the fruits of His spirit is joy.  Therefore, we should be like trees of joy!  The Bible also says the Joy of the Lord is our strength.  This joy strength is vital when we are battling the enemy as we possess our promises from God.

2. Joy Conscious

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:2-4

Our journey will have trials that will test our faith.  This is the process of becoming mature spiritually.  However, when facing trials, no matter how small or big the storm, we must persevere with joy because our perseverance will bring us to a finished work.  We will lack nothing and our patience and our faith will be developed.  Let us become joy conscious on our faith journey and conquer and be victorious all the way to our promised land!

3. Author and Perfector of Our Faith

We don’t keep our focus on the storm, we keep our focus on Jesus who is the author and the perfector of our faith.  When we learn to keep our focus on Jesus, we will be able to maintain our joy through any storm.  We stand on God’s word, on His promises, and not on the lies of the enemy who is the author and perfector of the storm!  The enemy will show us the opposite of God’s promises and it is up to us to listen to the right voice.  The voice of life not death.  The voice of promise, not the voice of doom and gloom.  Look at Jesus’s journey to the cross.  He kept his focus on God’s promise of redemption for the world and did not focus on the whirlwind of pain and suffering the enemy caused, and now we are living in that promise of redemption today.

4. Avoid the Joy Robbers

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Problems (trials) are a part of this faith journey as long as we have an enemy on our trail.  The enemy is not going to throw in the towel and surrender.  Actually, he is working hard toward our surrender to his lies and deceit.  We are to grow in wisdom and learn how to keep our focus off of our problems and avoid the joy robbers of fear, worry, and anxiety, and keep our focus on Jesus with continuous faith and joy!  We trust in God and in His Word only.  We don’t trust our circumstances, those storms that will try to take us off this faith journey course.  We endure until all our promises from God are fulfilled no matter how long the wait!
