Key To Unlocking Your Purpose
In the book of Luke we find a story of the prodigal son which represents how Jesus came to seek and save the lost from a destructive life without purpose, and to restore dignity and sonship. When the prodigal son returned home, his father embraced and kissed him, placed a robe on him, shoes, and a ring of dignity restoring his purpose. It is important we understand the Father’s love and affection, His code of covering, the shoes of purpose, and the ring of dignity. But those shoes of purpose are what got this young man in trouble: he forgot his purpose.

1. God’s Purpose And Call For Our Lives
“Where there is no prophetic vision, the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
Proverbs 29:18
This scripture means with no vision you have no boundary and no restraint. You have to have a vision for every area of your life. You need discipline because it produces success and a purpose for your life. If you’re single, you must have a vision for your future marriage; if you’re married, for your current marriage. If you have children, you must have a vision for your children. Anytime you don’t understand the vision or purpose of something, it will be abused. The prodigal son had no vision and this brought destruction, chaos, and pain into his life. You have to make sure you are moving into purpose in every area of your life!
You cannot lose your purpose as a parent, a husband, or as a wife. We all have a specific call in the area of our career. However, we as Christians are called to win souls and make disciples.
“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
Romans 11:29
The Bible is very clear: the call of God upon somebody’s life is without repentance. This means that gift, that calling, God does not take away. However, you can, by bad behavior, forfeit the call of God on your life. Throughout the Bible you find out people had a call but because of disobedience, that call was limited and they suffered when they didn’t have to. King David committed adultery and still stayed King. But you can see that the sword never left his house because there are consequences to sin hindering that call.
The call of God is without repentance but if you fall out of that call, you can get back into the purposes of God and still fulfill that purpose. The fear and rejection of man is another way you can forfeit the purpose of God on your life. The woman at the well was going through all these relationships because she didn’t understand her purpose. Her purpose was that of a worshiper. Once she had that purpose established, through her encounter with Jesus, she knew she would never live that lifestyle again because she found her purpose at that well.

2. Staying Disciplined When The Future Looks Uncertain
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
There was a time in my life, I didn’t know my future. I didn’t know God’s plan. Once I got a hold of that I knew my number one plan of God was to love Him with all my heart, all my soul, and all my strength. If you feel your future is uncertain, one thing is certain: God wants you to love Him with all your heart and be a worshiper. If you can get that established straight away, you’re on your way to a path of a disciplined life. The woman at the well came into her purpose as a worshiper and her entire life changed.
3. Balancing Gifts And Personalities Without Limitations
Personality tests reveal who that person is, regarding their personality. This affects them on how they relate to other people which affects their destiny and where they are placed on a team. There are personalities the world tries to use to label you, but you need to own your personality and be true to how God made you.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’”
John 8:31-32
The Bible says you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Free means a life without limit. No matter what your personality is, there’s no limit. If God has something for you nobody can stop that. What can limit us from stepping into God’s purpose is time release belief systems that we may have about ourselves. There are time released belief systems in so many areas and they need to be challenged.
Final Thoughts
People who have experienced traumatic events such as: absent father, bullying, abuse, etc. develop anxiety and fear of man. It doesn’t matter what your personality or gifts are because God created us in His image. Embrace how He made you because trying to be someone you’re not will take time and energy leaving you exhausted. Time release belief systems, post-traumatic stress disorder, early adolescent abuse traumas, insecurity and inferiority complexes, and fear of man must be challenged in your life!
