How To Prepare For Your Purpose

How To Prepare For Your Purpose

Every season has a purpose and we all have a purpose in the Kingdom of God!

1. Prepare To Let Go

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:19-22

We first depart from iniquity–a cutting off.  You may ask what is iniquity?  Iniquity simply means injustice, unrighteousness, hurting others, moral wrongdoings, generational curses and sin, generational thinking that is opposed to the Word of God, etc. In order to step into our purpose, there must be a choice to depart from iniquity. But we have to first identify the iniquity in our life and deal with it.

2. Prepare To Be Used For God’s Special Purpose

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

James 4:8

We can’t have pure water and dirty water coming out of the same sprout because the dirty water will contaminate the pure water.  This is why we must depart from iniquity in our life.  The pure water will be obstructed by the dirt and won’t be able to flow properly in our life.  We will end up being a contaminated vessel and God will never be able to use us effectively for our special purpose.  God is not going to cleanse us without our will partnering with His will.  However, He gives us the grace to walk in this newness of life.  The blood of Jesus purifies us and cleanses us from the things of this world.

3. Prepare For Holiness

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Holiness means we separate ourselves from the world and unto the things of God.  This is not talking about becoming isolated from the world, but is referring to the condition of our heart.  We must choose to set our heart and life on the things of God, and refuse to partake in anything worldly that will pull us away from Him. This is the preparation for God’s special purpose for our life.

4. Prepare To Run Toward Purpose

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

Although, we have to flee from the iniquity in our life, at the same time we have to run toward something else which is: God’s special purpose for our life. Ultimately, we exchange our desire for the things of the world to the things of God: righteousness and right living. We are heading in a new direction–God’s purpose for our life.  We pursue, go after, and we hunger for His righteousness.

Final Thoughts

We can’t move forward in purpose carrying the baggage of iniquity and failure.  So we must depart from iniquity and old ways of living, and instead run toward God’s right way of living.

If we are going to step into purpose, we must pursue the things of God.

The blood of Jesus purifies us and cleanses us from the things of this world.
