Resurrection Blessings

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”  Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.  I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:26-29

When Jesus went to Calvary–the very first Good Friday–He purchased our physical and emotional healing.  He was paying the price for our sins, our sicknesses, our diseases, and for every pain Satan brought into our life.  He bore our griefs, carried our sorrows, and was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed!

1. Power of Communion

When we eat the communion bread and take the wine, we are remembering the thirty-nine stripes Jesus bore.  Every wound He took, He was healing us from the diseases Satan has tried to put on us.  Even generational sickness that have been in our family, hereditary, and passed down through DNA–the blood of our father–has been broken because we have a new blood which is the blood of our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

2. No Ordinary Man

The first man (Adam) was of the dust of the earth; the second man (Jesus) is of heaven.

2 Corinthians 15:47

Jesus was born of God and not of a man.  When the Roman soldiers ripped Him open and His blood was shed, that blood was the blood of God paying the price for every curse that came into this world through sin.  This is why we declare boldly by Jesus’s stripes we are healed!  We are not just talking about a good man, a miracle worker, a prophet, or an evangelist.  We are talking about God wrapped in flesh.  He was born from a virgin and that made Him man.  However, His blood was not from man, it was God’s blood.  The Roman soldiers thought they had Him.  Pontius Pilate even asked Him to defend Himself so he could free Him.  But Jesus looked at Pontius Pilate in the eye telling him you don’t have me bound, I surrendered My life and I am laying it down so you can be healed!

3. Lifting Up Jesus!

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

Galatians 3:13

In the wilderness the Israelites came under a curse and were being bit by snakes.  Their venom was killing them and there was no cure.  God instructed Moses to take a pole and hang a snake on it, lift it high for all to see, and the Israelites would be healed.  On Calvary Jesus Christ became a curse so that we can be blessed, and through our salvation we too can be healed!

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

John 3:14-15

Satan thought he was killing Jesus but Jesus was killing Satan!  Jesus knew when He was lifted up on that cross He was paying the price for sin and would break every curse.  We lift up Jesus and He will break every curse off of our life!

4. The Blood Covenant

He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered.

Psalm 105:37

He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws

Psalm 105:43-45

This scripture is an example, a typology of our New Testament Salvation.  When God brought out the Israelites from Egyptian bondage, He brought them out with everything!  God is bringing us out of bondage and slavery and we are not coming out empty handed!  We are coming out with ALL the silver and gold and we will rule the nations!
