How To Stop Feeling Restless
“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God.”
Hebrews 4:9
The enemy does not want us to rest. When we have rest in our heart and mind, we make better decisions. The enemy is the author of confusion and restlessness which is why he goes to great lengths to keep us from this rest. But God has given us His rest, and we live in this rest when we enter into faith and trust in Him.
1. Warfare Rest
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:9
Let us learn to take deep breaths and take moments to slow down from the busyness of this task-oriented life we live in. We are all believing in God’s promises for our life, for miracles, for mountains to move, etc. However, this scripture tells us not to be anxious which means we are not to worry, be anxious, or fearful. Enter into God’s presence and allow Him to guide you with supernatural strategies, confirmations, and revelations for your future. Remember this: God is never late and He is never early. God is always on time! On our journey to believe God, we are going to have to warfare with the enemy to enter into His rest of faith.
2. A Certain Work To Faith
“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds (works)? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”
James 2:14-16
There is a process we can all struggle with: the action of faith. This is when the wisdom and strategy God gave us must be walked out. While we’re putting our faith into action, we are moving forward, and God develops our patience, love walk, faith, etc. We are walking out our faith as we fight to stay in His rest and not be anxious for the future. Make the decision to stay in His rest while you work out your faith! This is our faith in action as we reset, restart, refocus, and readjust daily!
3. Working With God
We are working with God as He pours His favor and His blessing on us because we have a covenant with Him and our freedom is because of Him. We believe and we receive everything He has already done for us. The striving of trying to climb our mountains on our own should no longer be a part of our life. Yet, there is a work that we do with Him. Just like the story of Joseph. He was walking out his faith in a prison and everything he touched, all his undertakings in that prison prospered because God was with him. God’s favor on his life brought Joseph prominence in that prison because he was working with God! God had given Joseph dreams of his future already and although he ended up in a prison, Joseph kept his focus on God’s promise over his life!
4. Resting While Working
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.“
Philippians 3:14
Rest does not necessarily mean we are not going to do anything. Rest can actually mean we are going to do more than we have ever done before.
When we are in God’s rest, there is a calmness and a quiet confidence in our soul, not a storm. There may be a storm around us, but not on the inside. As we enter His presence, He guides us with His wisdom and strategy. Remember: God is for you, not against you. He will finish what He started in your life as you walk out your faith and trust in Him completely.

As we fight to stay in His rest and not be anxious for the future, we are walking out our faith.
