How To Stay Spiritually Strong
We can do everything God wants us to do and spend quality time with Him. This is not always easy when business travel is a part of our life. We can spend quality time with our spouses and have great marriages that take work. We can have great children who also take work. Then we have ministry, because we are all called to save souls and make disciples which also requires work. Let’s not forget our careers. Life is a juggling act when it concerns our daily 24 hours. Maintaining a strong spirit is the framework if we want to be successful at this juggling act.

1. Power of Words
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4
The words we let in our heart can either build our faith or drain our faith. It is vital we are intentional about allowing the Word of God consistently into our daily lives, even during those busy seasons. We feed our spirit through our ears by either hearing positive words of God or negative and destructive words of the world. We guard our ears making sure what we allow into our heart is healthy spiritually and is building our faith. We must make sure what we let into our heart through our ears stands firmly on the Word of God. We don’t want anything causing our spiritual foundation and strength, our courage, and what we are believing God for to be hindered.
2. Spiritual Sustenance
The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit?
Proverbs 18:14
Our spirit will sustain us in sickness and keep us alive and healthy. It will determine the direction of our life and even the direction of our health. If our spirit is strong, when we get a bad report, it can work with our body to keep us healthy, by warding off spiritual attacks with the Word of God.
3. A Leaky Spirit
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:20-23
A leaky spirit can drain us of our spiritual energy. Worry, unbelief, offense are just a few of the culprits. Unbelief is by far the quickest way to drain our spirit of energy. Whatever is in our heart will determine how far our life will go. We have to protect our heart and our spirit from the culprits of a leaky spirit. We have an ear gate, an eye gate, and a mouth gate that has access to our heart. What we allow in our heart will eventually be released through our mouth through words. Remember, words have the power to speak life or to speak death. We were made in the image of God and our words create our future!
4. Symptoms of a Leaky Spirit
Being tired after eight hours of sleep is a symptom of a leaky spirit. This is not physical rest, we are spiritually tired. We have all been there while juggling life, or even while going through spiritual warfare, which can also cause spiritual tiredness after a good night’s sleep. Another symptom can be we are easily discouraged over one little bad report and it can take us over the top. Being fearful, worried all the time is another symptom. These are not temptations rather they have become strongholds in our life. God has not called us to live this type of life. He has called us to live a life of victory! Take inventory of your life today. Begin to make the necessary adjustments so you can stay spiritually strong, on fire, with vision and purpose, and change the world with the message of Jesus Christ!
