God’s Way To True Success
We all would love to have success which could be our motive for seeking higher education. Sometimes we can limit success or what is successful. But what does success really look like? I believe being successful is to be blessed in every area of our life to the point where we can be a blessing to others. God wants us to be successful especially in our relationship with Him, and in every area of our life: our career, our marriage, our parenting, our spiritual walk, etc. There is a difference between Godly success and worldly success and that is what we will discuss today–God’s way to true success!

1. Godly Foundation
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24-25
Anytime we build something we have to have the right foundation. If our foundation is cracked, and it’s not strong and solid, when things start to go south we will be in trouble. It’s the same concept when constructing buildings. The foundation will determine the integrity and stability of the building. We build our life on the foundation of the Word of God! Our obedience to the teachings of the Bible will provide us with a firm foundation against the storms of life; neglecting them will lead to collapse.
2. Ungodly Foundations
The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Proverbs 10:22
We absolutely do not want to build our foundation on our giftings only or even on success motivation, which is the drive to achieve our goals and excel on our own will power with an incentive to personal fulfillment and recognition. We may gain success for a while but if our foundation is not built God’s way we will not last. A perfect example of this scenario could be a person who reaches billionaire status; yet they are still unfulfilled, have no joy, and are unsuccessful in their marriage or with their children. There is no condemnation here. However, we should not just want to be successful in business and our personal life is in shambles and filled with sorrow.
3. A Blessed Life
I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you;
and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:2-3
What is success if we are not touching people’s lives? Our end result, when living an abundant life, and obtaining success, should be to be a blessing and empower others to also live an abundant life when arriving at their promised land.
4. God Success
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:8
God chose Joshua to lead His people into a promised land. Not only was this for his own family but also for the entire nation of Israel. This was a nation of slaves that were about to become owners and possess the promised land. God was going to use Joshua’s leadership to communicate His wisdom, instruction, and strategy so they could win where they had been losing for 400 years. This is the power of God’s way to true success.
