The Power Behind Thanksgiving

The Power Behind Thanksgiving

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

This is the perfect time of year to reflect on what God has done and appreciate and value His goodness in our lives.  What an awesome privilege to give Him thanks.  There is also power in giving Him thanks.  We remember where we came from–where He found us–and most importantly what He accomplished on that cross for us!

1. Hebrew Translation for “Thanks”

Hebrew translation: yada or toda. Yada means reverence or a high level of honor and respect.  It also means worship with extended hands.  When we do this, we are acknowledging God and giving Him all the glory for our provisions, and for everything He has done in our life.  Even the word Judah comes from the word Yada which means praise.  Praising God is not only our privilege, it is also our responsibility as Christians to offer Him our praise of thanksgiving every day of our life, without ceasing.

2. Praise of Thanksgiving Power

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:6-18

There is a certain danger of allowing fear to take over when we cease from giving God our praise of thanksgiving.  Keeping our stance on thanksgiving to God is power against fear, anxiety, and every evil work of the enemy.  Praise and thanksgiving sets an atmosphere of flowing in grace, faith, trusting in God only, and keeping our enemy subdued.

3. Managing Great Levels of Glory

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

When we are walking in the shadow of God’s glory, when He brings us into a land of influence and prosperity for His name’s sake, giving Him praise of thanksgiving is of the utmost importance!  We always remember we can do nothing without Him!  We never forget where He found us when He brings us into our promised land.  This is how we maintain humbleness and gratefulness for His goodness in our life.  King David knew this better than anyone else in the Bible.  He was a shepherd boy who became King of Israel, and he was famous for praise of thanksgiving to God–all you have to do is read the book of Psalms!  He praised God in a field with nothing but sheep surrounding him. When he became King his praise never wavered, never ceased.

4. The Key of David

The key of David is the key of Yada, the spirit realm and the enemy is deathly afraid of!  Giving God honor, respect, and our praise of thanksgiving is power against the darkness of this world.  We never stop, we never weaken, we never back down from our goliaths in this world.  We march forward in praise for God’s goodness in our life and we possess our promised land victoriously giving God all the glory and all the praise without ceasing.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Praising God is not only our privilege, it is also our responsibility as Christians to offer Him our praise of thanksgiving every day of our life, without ceasing.

Praise and thanksgiving sets an atmosphere of flowing in grace, faith, trusting in God only, and keeping our enemy subdued.

When we are walking in the shadow of God’s glory, when He brings us into a land of influence and prosperity for His name’s sake, giving Him praise of thanksgiving is of the utmost importance!
