Why Wait On God?

Why Wait On God?

When we have seed in the ground, there is a waiting period we cannot bypass, delete, or even ignore. This season of waiting can become precarious and can even result in discouragement and possibly losing our faith in God. Just because we cannot see the harvest in real-time, yet, believe God, that seed is growing underground!

1. Faith and Patience

“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”

Hebrews 6:12

When we are in our seed-time season, impatience can play tricks on us making us believe we have to help God out. Look at the Bible story of Abraham and Sarah. They took things into their own hands and in comes a slave woman giving birth to Ishmael, and a heap of problems entered their lives.

Don’t allow impatience to get you in a hurry. As we wait on God, He will provide and deliver all of His promises in His perfect timing! We just have to endure the seedtime waiting period with unshakeable faith. Do not be in a hurry. Continue to believe in God and all of His promises.

2. Maintain Devotion

“Let your heart therefore be loyal to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day.”

1 Kings 8:61

God has to mean everything to us and He has to mean more to us than His promises. These include: an amazing spouse, the big house, the business, and every promise He has bestowed upon us.

Keeping our devotion to God protects us from allowing His promises to become idols in our life. We have to keep Him first in every area. He is a jealous God! He desires all of our heart and we should desire all of Him.

Our devotion to God determines our blessing. He doesn’t give us blessings and prosperity so we can forget all about Him. God gives us blessings and prosperity so we can be a blessing to others and also bring Him more honor and praise.

We keep our devotion to Him, the one who gave us life! When we feel like other things are taking our attention away from God, we need to reevaluate our life and remove anything that will get in the way of Him. Nothing should come before our devotion to God.

3. Kingdom of God | House of God

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

Matthew 16:18

God’s kingdom (the church) must be our priority in life. All ministry comes out of the church. If we build God’s church, He will build our house, our family, our businesses, etc.

“I will grant this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be that when you go, you will not go empty-handed.”

Exodus 3:21

We are not coming out of our bondage of sin empty-handed or with just our salvation, but we are coming out with our family, all of our inheritance, our health, and our wealth! God’s blessings and promises will carry over to our children and their children.

“Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.”

Exodus 25:2, 8

God is saying here if He can establish His house and worship to be the center of our lives, then He can build our families around His house and everything will be okay. This is why when the Israelites came out of Egypt, God told the twelve tribes of Israel to put up tents around the ark of the covenant (His presence).

If we build our house around the house of God, we will reap the benefits that come with it and all of His promises. We must be willing to wait on the Lord.

Final Thoughts

If God is not the center of our life, we are not going to make it.

But, if we make God number one in our life, He will bless us and our family.

We must not ever settle, because Jesus died on the cross to give us everything!

God blesses us with harvest primarily for His kingdom’s sake.

What God has promised us is for us and we take it by faith no matter how long the wait.
