Winning The War In Your Mind
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:36
Although who the Son sets free is free indeed, there is still a process to this faith journey when it concerns our mind. Our mind can sometimes have strongholds that took many years to develop. Certain circumstances may arise and suddenly we are faced with that stronghold and a mental battle will begin.
1. Mind Wars
The only power the enemy has over our mind/our life is the power we give him when we believe his lies. There are bumps and detours in the road we all experience, times when we fall short of God’s glory. It is in those times the enemy comes full force with shame and condemnation, the same shame and condemnation our Lord Jesus died on that cross for! His powerful, enduring last words It Is Finished should be our steppingstone when we fall short. Jesus paid the price for ALL our sins: past, present, and future. Walk in forgiveness toward others and yourself, and move forward trusting in God only.
2. Winning The Battle
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
We may find ourselves falling into the temptation of believing the lies. We may be struggling with shame and condemnation that is keeping us from getting back on track. But all it takes is one moment of calling out to Jesus and reaching up for His help. There is absolutely nothing the world has to offer that can compare to our Savior Jesus Christ.
3. Consuming Love of God
There is nothing comparable to the consuming love of God, that liquid love that fulfills our soul. His love will turn our sorrow into joy and no matter how deep of a hole we fall into, He will pull us out. We may not get better overnight but it will get better if we stay on the faith journey. It is a fight, a battle against a relentless enemy, and we are fighting the good fight of faith. As we move forward, His consuming love will guide us into the purpose He has designed for us.
4. God’s Faithfulness
In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:4-6
We may feel like we are not going to make it on this faith journey. Be assured that God is with you and will see you through all the storms the enemy bombards you with. It is not our power, it is God’s power that will see us through.
And my God will supply all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
In the midst of our storm, we stand on this promise from God! Let this be our foundation on our faith journey. He will supply all our needs from the temptations of the world, all the weaknesses of the flesh, all the trials and tribulations. God will see us through, and He will bring us into our promised land–the vision, the dreams–He has placed inside of us.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The only power the enemy has over our life is when we believe his lies.
As we move forward, His consuming love will guide us into the purpose He has designed for us.
There is absolutely nothing the world has to offer that can compare to our Savior Jesus Christ.
