Young And Going After God
Life without God could have been filled with brokenness. Some may have never been to a church. However, others may have grown up in church, related to a pastor, or even served in a choir at a young age. There are many reasons why we could have drifted from the house of God.
Any path away from church will take us downhill. This is a biblical fact! That wide path can expose us to drugs, alcohol, fornication, living in sin, etc. The world can sometimes normalize sin, which brings confusion into our lives. We live where good and evil are twisted.
1. Confusion of The World
We can find ourselves choosing drugs, alcohol, gang violence, etc. which is prevalent in this generation. So many voices speak the lies of temptation and deception that we can do whatever we want as long as it makes us feel good, but the Bible says otherwise.
Many are searching for the satisfaction of happiness when their home life is physically or verbally abusive. Adding an absent parent, especially a father, adds more fuel to this fire because fathers give children their identity. The simple presence of a father gives the children security.
Fatherlessness can send us on many paths of destruction outside the home when we are young and vulnerable. We can do things we never thought possible, like partaking in illegal activities, addiction to drugs or alcohol, or dishonoring our household.
2. House of God
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
The house of God is so mighty. It is the anchor to our soul at any age. The house of God will keep our minds clear of the confusion of this world. If you’re a young man or woman, serving God is the best life to live! Listening to the word of God and allowing that word to renew our minds will rescue us from all confusion. God’s word will reverse the cunning voices of the world and set you free! Allow God to reveal our true identity, not the lies of this confused world.
In God, there is no confusion. He makes all things suitable and clear. He loves regardless of what mistakes have been made and lives that have been shaped. Your past does not determine His purpose for your life! He is a Father to the fatherless and embodies love and forgiveness.
3. Intimidation of Fear
The Father’s love breaks the intimidation of fear. Our home life may have caused trauma from abuse, drug addiction, alcoholism, or violence. The root of this fear can manifest into a phobia of success, failure, rejection, loneliness, insecurity, or discouragement.
But the good news is that God heals all trauma when we open our hearts entirely to Him. His truth will erase and wash away all the negative words spoken over us. God knows everything we have gone through, and He will heal it all.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
John 15:16
His Word teaches us how to overcome all trauma and fears that try to re-enter our lives. Your faith will grow as you learn to resist the enemy from all of his lies, and he will have to flee! God’s word leads to a life of victory and confidence in His perfect love for all eternity.
If you live without the Lord, it is time to return to Him! There is simply no life apart from Him. The Bible says if you abide in Him, He will abide in you. Even as young men or women, we try to figure out life by making several mistakes until we learn. But apart from God, we can do nothing. God has finished the hard work for us by handcrafting our lives with a purpose (instructions included—the bible) [Jeremiah 1:5]. It is unnecessary to find a “soul-searching” experience. We have to believe what He says about us.
4. Living Holy and Pure In End Times
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12
Do not be moved by anything around you. Just seek God, and everything will change. God’s word will renew your mind and reverse all the confusion formed from the past. But we must first open our hearts to God and let Him transform us. Make the decision today in the heart to live apart from a world that will pass away and instead go after God.
Final Thoughts
We must get hungry for God and fight for our freedom.
Approval and acceptance come from God, not our peers.
Have courage and stand up for God and our faith.
When the world pressures us, go to God’s Word and combat those fears with His truth!
God’s plans are not age-dependent. They are prepared for use today, not tomorrow.
